Behrang Foroughi

Behrang joined Coady in September 2008. His work is divided between the Coady International Institute and the Department of Adult Education at St. FX, where he is an assistant professor of Adult Education and Community Development. Behrang's community development experience involves working with street children and community health volunteers in Tehran; farming, fishing and nomadic communities in rural Iran; multi-purpose community telecentres in Tamil Nadu, India; and tenants of social housing and immigrant communities in Toronto. He teaches in the areas of community-based natural resource management, capacity building for community-based development, participatory budgeting, participatory planning in local governance; his research focuses on learning and education for deepening such practices of deliberative and participatory democracy.
Behrang has a PhD in Adult Education and Community Development from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Planning from the University of Guelph and a BSc in Engineering from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran.
