Coady Institute has partnered with the Catholic Women’s League of Canada (CWL) since 1961 when the League first donated $1,000 to Coady Institute. St. Francis Xavier University honoured the CWL in 2018 by awarding the organization the Lifetime Xaverian Award in recognition and in appreciation of this long relationship.

Over the years, the CWL National Council and individual parish councils across Canada, have been dedicated and significant supporters of Coady Institute, providing annual scholarships to women community leaders from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. These graduates have in turn helped thousands of disadvantaged people in their communities to improve their lives.

“At Coady, we are so proud of our partnership with CWL and grateful for the years of support that continues to enable community leaders from around the world to benefit from our programming,” Gord Cunningham, Executive Director Coady International Institute, said. “Thank you to all the local CWL members and those across Canada for their help in bringing about social change.”

I am grateful for the support of Catholic Women’s League. You have rekindled my spirit and confidence to fight for justice for all humanity and respect for the environment.
