Friends, family, staff, community members, and partner representatives gathered at StFX University’s Warren Gardens to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Moses Coady, and the 60th anniversary of Coady International Institute, July 24.

The afternoon included storytelling by historian and author Peter Ludlow, a reading from Coady’s “Masters of Their Own Destiny” by family member Maureen Coady, multi-faith reflections with Coady staff Robin Neustaeter (Program Teaching Staff) and Michael Adiyia (Research Coordinator), remarks from Gord Cunningham (Executive Director) and Anthony Scoggins (Director of Education Programs), shared song, and a moment of silence.

“I’ll leave you with what Coady has to say about politics and of movements:
’The right program should be progressive enough to meet the legitimate demands of all the people. In other words, it should be radical enough to be progressive, yet sufficiently conservative to be sound.’
I think we still have a lot to learn from the Antigonish Movement and we have a lot to learn from Monseigneur Coady.”
– Peter Ludlow, quoting Rev. Dr. Moses Coady
