Pattie LaCroix, MA

Pattie  LaCroix has more than two decades of strategic planning, public engagement and communications experience in Canada, the US, Africa and south Asia. Pattie is a regular conference speaker on the power of storytelling as a springboard for igniting engagement. She has held senior communications roles in a number of organizations in the public and private sectors.  Her work has almost always been focused on exploring the application of narrative-based participatory approaches to social justice issues in different contexts.

Pattie has been engaged by organizations including: Oxfam Canada, the Canadian AIDS Society, the Canadian Council for International Development, the Nova Scotia Department of Energy, Make Poverty History campaign, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges to lead the design of public engagement and narrative strategies. Pattie is on the National Board of Directors of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2).  She was a National Board Member of the Canadian Community for Dialogue and Deliberation from 2009 to 2014. Pattie’s public engagement work was recognized by the International Association of Public Participation with the receipt of the 2010 Innovative Project of Year award.

Pattie has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and a Masters in Liberal Studies. She has studied at the Centre of Narrative Studies in Washington, DC. and was a contributing author to Internet Strategies published by Wiley & Sons. Pattie is currently working on my first book “Capturing the Idea of Change: Why Stories Matter.”
