Title

Counting the organisational cost of HIV/AIDS to civil society organisations

Author

James, Rick; Katundu, Brenda

Description

HIV/AIDS mainstreaming has been equated with adjusting programmes to be more relevant to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Experience demonstrates that civil society organisations (CSOs) are not immune to the impacts of AIDS within their own organisations. This paper suggests how CSOs in sub-Saharan Africa can build organisational resilience in order to survive the loss of staff, time and money that HIV/AIDS will cause. It concludes with recommendations for their donors.
