The Marie Michael Library of the Coady International Institute, is located on the campus of St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. The library is on the ground floor of the historic Aquinas building, overlooking the garden in Confusion Square. (368K pdf map).

This is a collaborative project of the Angus L. Macdonald Library and the Coady International Institute to provide a digital archive of material related to the history of the Antigonish Movement, the Extension Department, and the Coady International Institute.
We are now able to provide Dr. Moses Coady's renowned book Masters of Their Own Destiny.

Our Collection
The Marie Michael Library supports the programs of the Coady International Institute and our collection of 12,000 books range from academic texts to practical “hands-on” manuals related to the field of adult education, community participation and broader issues of international development.
The library focuses on social, community, and economic development, with special emphasis on the countries of the global South. We also have over 800 videos and a number of digital resources. The Marie Michael Library collection focuses on a range of development related themes including:
- adult education
- advocacy and networking
- asset-based community development
- community-based resource management
- community health and nutrition
- co-operatives
- environmental issues
- gender and development
- liberation theology
- microfinance
- NGO management
- participatory research
- peacebuilding
- rural development
- spirituality and social justice
Selected microfinance materials formerly comprising the Calmeadow Resource Center have been integrated with our library collection. We appreciate the generosity of the Calmeadow Foundation in choosing us as the repository for their fine collection.
St. F.X. students and faculty are welcome to use the Marie Michael Library. We also welcome community borrowers and visiting scholars. You should note that our winter hours are reduced. Please contact us in advance to confirm.
