Paula Romanow
Manager of Research and Evaluation, Centre for Employment Innovation
Paula Romanow joined the Extension Department in April 2017 as manager, Applied Research for the Centre for Employment Innovation. Paula has worked in a variety of communication roles: television news and documentary producer/director, freelance writer and journalist, military public affairs officer, and owner of Bramblefield Research & Consulting. Active in community-based education and rural community development, she began teaching at the Nova Scotia Community College in 1994 and in the Communications Studies and Faculty of Education (Lifelong Learning) at MSVU in 1999. Paula’s academic research interests centre on rural community development in all its facets – economic, health and wellness, sustainability, education, and policy development, and the role that communication plays in resiliency. Paula has also conducted research for a variety of academic and community-based research projects ranging from communication in all its forms and the cultural effects thereof to the use of recognition of prior learning in developing competency-based standards and certifications for career development practitioners. Prior to coming to Extension, she was the Executive Director of the Nova Scotia Career Development Association.
Paula holds a BA in communication studies from the University of Windsor, a Diploma in Adult Education from StFX, a MAEd in Adult Education from MSVU, and a PhD in communication from Carleton University.
