In this conversation with Laurie Edwards, we will explore the key changes Laurie has seen in the workplace and workforce over her 25-year career in career development and counseling.
In particular, we will delve into her perspective on whether the current questions about the 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 are fundamentally different from previous periods of technological disruption in the past.
Based on Laurie’s unique vantage point, she will also share her thoughts on the implications of the increasing shift towards a gig economy and the change in workplace culture as Millennials and Generation Z begin to replace the exiting Baby Boomers.
Finally, drawing on the lessons she has learned over her career, Laurie will also share what she believes are the timeless skills, capabilities and habits one should develop and cultivate in order to build a resilient career.

Laurie Edwards is a nationally recognized career development specialist who builds services, programs, and websites to help youth and adults connect with the lives they want to lead.
At Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), her work focus is Career and Academic Advising; Inclusion and International Supports. Prior to joining NSCC, she was the Manager for Career Services with the Nova Scotia Department of Education. Laurie is passionate about helping individuals experiencing homelessness find shelter and encouraging the career development community to be change-makers and innovators.
