As we approach the end of another year, I want to share a story of hope – and an invitation to be part of it.
At Coady Institute, we believe that lasting change begins when people come together to learn, share knowledge, and lead within their own communities. Every year, hundreds of participants from around the world — including right here in Canada — join our programs to strengthen leadership, equality, and opportunity at the grassroots level.
Based on the knowledge and skills gained from Coady, I have, and am, training these farmers on climate smart farming techniques … These has improved their productivity resulting in regular supply of food for home consumption and sales while improving dietary patterns, household incomes, and creating employment.
Highlights, from this year, include:
- Facilitating 22 educational programs with 459 participants from 31 countries, these participants are building skills, confidence, and leadership capacity;
- Implementing Walking with Community: Coady Institute’s Strategic Direction for 2025 to 2030 our renewed commitment to education, partnerships, and community engagement;
- Hosting the first Katherine Fleming Leadership Course for Women Leaders in Africa uniting women driving change in economic empowerment, education, and equality;
- Advancing women’s empowerment, mentorship, and active citizenship in India, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and Haiti through the ENGAGE Project;
- Co-launching Impact X, Atlantic Canada’s first student pitch summit uniting social impact and entrepreneurship — inspiring young innovators to address food insecurity and climate challenges;
- Supporting Indigenous women leaders through the Indigenous Women in Community Leadership (IWCL) program, where participants reclaimed culture, built belonging, and created community projects that strengthen identity and leadership.
These achievements are possible thanks to people who believe that education changes lives.
But the landscape around us is shifting. We are entering a new era of decreasing traditional government development assistance and streamlined federal and provincial budgets With these cuts to public funding, we need the help of people like you to ensure that Coady’s life-changing programs continue to reach the communities that depend on them. Our work supporting community leadership education is more critical than ever in these changing times.
We’re asking for your support to keep this momentum going. Your year-end gift will help us expand our reach — offering more opportunities for adults to learn, connect, and lead. Every contribution fuels our shared mission of education, collaboration, and transformative leadership.
Please consider making your tax-deductible donation today. Together, we can continue to nurture learning spaces where communities thrive and visions for change take root.
Thank you for walking with us – and for believing that learning is a lifelong, collective act of transformation.
With gratitude,

Eileen Alma

Our collective asset-based community development (ABCD) training with Coady is guiding our community engagement … We are exploring how these ‘conversation starters’ align with our collaborative work with Indigenous youth and heritage storytellers at local museums and creating connections with other organizations and individuals in our watershed community of care.
