Join us for an International Women’s Week panel featuring Coady graduates from around the world who discussed what it means to #EmbraceEquity in their own contexts.

Meet the Panelists:

Tenzin Choezin is a Member of Tibetan Parliament in Exile and the Executive Director of the Active Nonviolence Education Center (ANEC) based in Dharamshala, India – an organization that aims to to strengthen the foundation of active nonviolence as a tool to restore human dignity and justice for Tibet and other oppressed communities.

Jane Kihungi is the Director of Women Challenged to Challenge (WCC) in Nairobi, Kenya –  a national organization with the goal of bringing together women with disabilities to champion issues that limit their participation in development spheres.

Lauren Sobot is the Founder and Program Coordinator of Proud Pairs – an organization that strives to provide 2SLGBTQ+ youth in Halifax, Canada with social support and increase their confidence with navigating life as 2SLGBTQ+ by pairing them with a supportive adult who has been through similar experiences.

St. Francis Xavier University and Coady Institute stand on the lands of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded home of the Mi’kmaw. We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to the generations of Mi’kmaw who, since time immemorial, have loved and stewarded these lands and the beings who call them home. Colonization is not just history; it exists in the present tense. While we strive to decolonize ourselves and our University, we know there is still much for us to learn.

We are committed to doing the hard work of self-reflection and to repairing relationships with the Mi’kmaw on whose lands we reside, including embracing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action and embodying their spirit in our plans to move forward with our University.
