The 2018 Diploma in Development Leadership participants traveled to Margaree, Cape Breton where the family of Rev. Dr. Moses Coady hosted them at the family’s homestead and the Coady Tompkins Memorial Library.

During the visit, the Coady family presented the annual Coady Family Global Bursary to Gambian participant, Jawneh Nfamara.

Nfamara is the Executive Director of Beakanyang, a not for profit non-government organization in The Gambia that promotes human rights and good governance. Their mission is to enhance the quality of life for young people and women in The Gambia and to promote their effective participation in decision-making processes, to ensure every human being living in The Gambia “enjoys all his or her God given human rights without any restriction”.

I will use my time at Coady to equip myself with the necessary skills and tools to become a leading voice in The Gambia’s democratic transition and in building a culture of human rights in the country.”
