Please join the Coady Institute, with the support of Employment and Social Development Canada, in creating a publicly available map of affordable housing efforts in Nova Scotia that align with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The UN SDGs and Affordable Housing in Nova Scotia Map will help organizations connect, share information, engage in learning, and support each other in our shared commitment to increasing housing security in our province.

Affordable, accessible housing is crucial to the wellbeing of our communities. The UN SDGs and Agenda 2030 provide a framework that allows us to demonstrate how affordable housing can contribute to the improvement of other aspects of our lives. To learn more about the UN SDGs and Affordable Housing in Nova Scotia Map project, please visit our website.

We invite you to contribute to this mapping project by taking approximately ten minutes to complete the survey at the link below by August 15, 2022.

The virtual map of Nova Scotia will identify organizations that are active in the affordable housing sector. Your organization’s name, purpose, location and contact information is requested, as well as examples of the organization’s work you would like to share publicly.

With your help, we will be excited to launch the map in October 2022.

Thank you,
Pauline MacIntosh

St. Francis Xavier University and Coady Institute stand on the lands of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded home of the Mi’kmaw. We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to the generations of Mi’kmaw who, since time immemorial, have loved and stewarded these lands and the beings who call them home. Colonization is not just history; it exists in the present tense. While we strive to decolonize ourselves and our University, we know there is still much for us to learn.

We are committed to doing the hard work of self-reflection and to repairing relationships with the Mi’kmaw on whose lands we reside, including embracing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action and embodying their spirit in our plans to move forward with our University.
