Maria is founder of The Action Foundation. The foundation helps build inclusive and resilient communities for children, women, and girls with disabilities in Kenya.

For her Pathy Foundation Fellowship initiative, Laila is working alongside Sakeenah Homes – an organization that provides culturally-sensitive supports for Muslim women and children – to develop a rehabilitation program for Muslim women survivors of human trafficking.
