Hina Shehzadi

Project Manager, Engage and Women’s Leadership

Hina has more than 16 years of experience in community development and racial and gender justice, working with both national and international non-profit organizations to advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and systemic change.

She holds a Master’s of Education from St. Francis Xavier University (Canada), a Master’s of Sociology from the University of Karachi (Pakistan), and a diploma in Leadership Development from Coady Institute.

Throughout her career, Hina has been deeply committed to advocating for women’s rights and dismantling sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). She brings an intersectional and trauma-informed approach to her work, focusing on the systems that sustain human rights violations, racism, and other forms of discrimination.

Her professional journey has deepened her understanding of how violence, injustice, and exclusion are experienced across diverse identities and communities. Hina is passionate about creating safer, more inclusive spaces — and continues to work toward transformative change that centers the voices of those most impacted by systemic oppression.

St. Francis Xavier University and Coady Institute stand on the lands of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded home of the Mi’kmaw. We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to the generations of Mi’kmaw who, since time immemorial, have loved and stewarded these lands and the beings who call them home. Colonization is not just history; it exists in the present tense. While we strive to decolonize ourselves and our University, we know there is still much for us to learn.

We are committed to doing the hard work of self-reflection and to repairing relationships with the Mi’kmaw on whose lands we reside, including embracing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action and embodying their spirit in our plans to move forward with our University.
