The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP)

The International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) will soon be accepting applications for its third cohort! Jointly implemented by the Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) and the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, the program offers youth the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience through 4-month internship placements with partner organizations in Africa, the Caribbean, Asia, and Central America.

Other local organizations, like Coady Institute and Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Solidarity Network, are partners on the project and are connecting interns with reliable and vetted host organizations.

Coady Institute is pleased to facilitate two internship placements with Coady partner, the Tanzanian Gender Networking Programme (TGNP).

TGNP’s philosophy is built on Transformative Feminism, which aims to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and other marginalized groups through activism, movement building, knowledge, research and analysis, training and capacity building, and organizational growth and sustainability in the areas of Agriculture, Water, Health, Education and Extractive Industries. . TGNP will work to co-develop a work plan with interns, and this dynamic placement may include: supporting the Global Affairs Canada ENGAGE Project on Women’s Empowerment and Leadership, supporting knowledge mobilization, MEL and reporting, communications and storytelling, creating policy briefs, carrying out action research, and supporting programming through tool-building, curriculum strengthening, and co-hosting community events.

There are NO education, work, or travel experiences required to be eligible or to be successful in this program. We welcome applicants with lived experience and expertise.

NOTE: This program gives priority to Indigenous, Racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+ interns and youth who have experienced barriers to employment due to COVID-19. This means the program will first select interns who hold those identities from the pool of applicants.
