Last year, the world’s population surpassed seven billion people, more than half of whom are under the age of 30. Young people are at the heart of today’s great strategic opportunities and challenges, from rebuilding the global economy to combating violent extremism to building a sustainable environment. Coady programs support the aspirations of young leaders around the globe for positive social change.
Recent events around the world demonstrate that young people are at the heart of social justice and social change. The Coady Institute recognizes both the need for and the capacity of youth leaders to play a pivotal role in community change. We are dedicated to providing knowledge-sharing, global experiences and education to support the aspirations of youth leaders in Canada and the developing world. Grounded in the Coady International Institute’s approach to citizen-led development, Coady Youth Programs offers learning opportunities for young leaders to develop the capacity for citizen action towards a more just world.

Student Interns Enhance Women’s Leadership Team
As part of our commitment to developing youth leaders, twelve student summer interns have been working alongside Coady Institute and the Centre for Employment Innovation (CEI) staff members over the last few months. We are pleased to introduce you to the four International Centre for Women’s Leadership interns at Coady Institute.
Canadian Youth Leaders Drive Social Change as they join Coady’s Graduate Network
As the Pathy Foundation Fellowship participants and supporting staff adjust to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, they were swift to see opportunity in creating a participatory digital platform for the revamped Debrief Week. The week was capped with a virtual graduation ceremony as Julia, Jessica, Salome, Giovanni, Stewart, Maggie, Hanan, Lauren, and Nicola join more than 7000 graduates from 122 countries as part of Coady’s graduate network.
Alumni Voice – Social Enterprise Shifts to PPE Production amidst Lockdown (India)
At the local level many civic hospitals in Gohdra, India are only able to supply doctors and surgeons with PPE. Saheli fills the gap here, providing masks to nurses, cleaning staff, and other essential workers in these hospitals.
