The political and social economy of care in Nicaragua : familialism of care under an exclusionary social policy regime

This paper examines the general features of the Nicaraguan social policy regime from the 1980s to the 2000s, in terms of social spending and the main components of education, health, social protection and actual care services.  The paper describes the care practices and discusses the public, market and family care practices in the context of the findings.
