Title
Red, white, and green : transforming U.S. biofuels
Author
Earley, Jane; McKeown, Alice
Description
Recently the United States has viewed biofuels as a possible solution to the country's energy and climate change problems. Studies suggest that the environmental costs of producing 'first-generation' biofuels outweigh the benefits. Research is under way on the conversion of cellulose to biofuel and other advanced technologies. Efforts in U.S. policy would make biofuels production more environmentally sustainable and ensure that the use of biofuels contributes to both energy security and efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
