Description
The Bristol Bay region of southwest Alaska is home to the wild Sockeye salmon fishery. It's also home to rich mineral deposits such as copper, gold, and molybdenum. Two foreign mining companies are proposing to extract this mineral wealth through an open-pit mine, the 'Pebble Mine', at the headwaters of Bristol Bay. This video examines the battle between those who depend on the salmon fishery for a living, the mining companies, and the political framework that will decide the outcome.
