Co-operatives and Development: Towards a Social Movement Perspective

This paper studies the link between theory and praxis of creating and promoting co-operation in developing countries. Many successful co-ops arise from spontaneous social movements. Beyond studying co-ops as social movements, external promotion, support and control of the co-op sector are examined including the affect colonial and government control has on movements.
