This series compiles excerpts of Canadian archival and contemporary documentary films for the purpose of studying the conventions, the techniques, the power and the social impact of this form of communication. Includes a resource book with film descriptions, background notes, interviews with filmmakers, technical notes and terminology.  This video's questions include: Does a documentary really reflect reality? What difference does the presence of the camera make for those who are under its scrutiny? Should the filmmaker be an uninvolved reporter or an engaged participant? What ethical issues are involved?
