Description

This film from Togo presents portraits of contemporary African women in four West African countries: Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal and Benin. Topics include the movement against female genital mutilation, education on sexually transmitted disease and the use of condoms, and the development of an organisation to assist women market traders. The film shows that women are organising at the grassroots level to play a prominent role in Africa's current opening to democracy.
