This report begins with an overview of community-led total sanitation (CLTS) with emphasis on Africa.  It looks at community-level processes including the importance of language, local taboos, and the potential of empowering children and youth. It considers management and organisational changes needed for CLTS to be effective. The report describes opportunities, challenges and lessons including training of CLTS facilitators.  It also includes an article on running a writeshop.
