Despite cultural, economic and political differences, women throughout the world share one characteristic: inequality of opportunity which relegates them to second-place status. This film looks at some of the circumstances which make it difficult to escape this position, and concludes that the status of women and her participation and rights within a society are a criterion of its progress.
