Support Social Change

At Coady Institute, we believe in the power of education to drive social change. Our programs focus on fostering leadership, promoting inclusivity, and building resilience by equipping individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to create sustainable solutions.

Coady graduates are confronting climate change, addressing inequality, and promoting social and economic development across the globe and right here in Canada.

With your support, we can bring together even more leaders to co-learn and to continue to drive change in their communities. Join us in making a difference, together, we can cultivate a generation of leaders equipped to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Prossy Nantongo of Uganda uses education to enhance the lives of vulnerable and orphaned girls/women living in poverty helping them transition from school to work by making sure they have skills they need to find jobs. She came to Coady Institute “to learn new skills and knowledge to use appropriate techniques” in her community.
Crystal Lewis of Squamish Nation and Kevin Good of Fraser Basin Council are social justice advocates who are using their learnings from Coady Institute to educate others about human trafficking in indigenous communities. They believe that through the exchange of ideas and building of networks “we can change our communities for the better.”
Ayatam Simeneh of Ethiopia is co-founder of Social Enterprise Ethiopia a membership organization focusing on building a sustainable and inclusive economy by connecting social entrepreneurs, government, donors, investors and partner organizations. He came to Coady Institute “to gain inspiration and tools for community action.”

Through your investment in Coady scholarships, you empower leaders from diverse backgrounds to acquire the essential knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to enact significant and enduring change within their communities. Your support not only enables individuals worldwide to access quality training but also serves as a beacon of hope for a more equitable and empowered future. Thank you for being champions of positive change and for your invaluable contribution to creating a better world for all.

St. Francis Xavier University and Coady Institute stand on the lands of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded home of the Mi’kmaw. We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to the generations of Mi’kmaw who, since time immemorial, have loved and stewarded these lands and the beings who call them home. Colonization is not just history; it exists in the present tense. While we strive to decolonize ourselves and our University, we know there is still much for us to learn.

We are committed to doing the hard work of self-reflection and to repairing relationships with the Mi’kmaw on whose lands we reside, including embracing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Calls to Action and embodying their spirit in our plans to move forward with our University.
