Description
This film recounts the struggle of ethnic groups in Burma to survive decades of military repression. The focus is on the current Slorc regime that has systematically destroyed their villages and has conscripted villagers as porters in their military campaign against the guerillas. Includes interviews with refugees who have fled to Bangladesh, Thailand, India and China. There is growing frustration over the United Nations' apparent ineffectiveness in dealing with human rights abuses. Increased international investment by transnational corporations and a growing drug trade help finance Slorc's military activities.
