Three part series. If the Vietnam conflict was a "television war" then the starvation in Ethiopia was a "television famine". Our thoughts and feelings about it and responses to it have been completely shaped by television images. This video shows how the media, particularly the programmes and promotions of World Vision and LiveAid, portray Africans as helpless, hopeless recipients of Western assistance.
