Title

Corporate accountability to the poor? Assessing the effectiveness of community-based strategies

Author

Garvey, Niamh; Newell, Peter

Description

This paper examines how community-based strategies are effective in promoting corporate accountability to the poor. It argues that approaches to corporate social responsibility underestimate power in the relationship between corporations and the communities they invest in. The paper suggests that attention should be paid to state-, corporation- and community-related factors, which affect strategies aimed at providing corporate accountability to the poor.
