This paper on microfinance discusses three topics: an assessment of recent achievements in microfinance, the reasons for gaps among current achievements, potential supply and political expectations, and recent changes in the microfinance field due to systemic risk, increasing competition, improper regulations, and attempts of return by the state to development finance.
