Pathy Fellowship adds Alumnx Seat to Selection Committee
The Pathy Foundation Fellowship is pleased to announce that for the first time, a designated Pathy Alumnx position will be added to the program’s Selection Committee. Daniela Gallardo (Cohort 6, 2021-22) will become the eighth member of this year’s Selection Committee and will contribute to interviewing, evaluating, and deliberating which candidates will form Cohort 9 of the Pathy Foundation Fellowship.

Engage Partner CLE Prepares for Second Cohort of Social Enterprise Fellowship for Women in Haiti
Twenty-five women graduated from the first cohort of the Centre Haitien du Leadership et de l’Excellence (CLE)‘s Fanm Angaje in 2022. After the success of the program’s initial offering, the centre is now preparing for a new cohort of Haitian women in social enterprise.

On November 14, we held a small online graduation ceremony for the 2023 Diploma in Development Leadership participants. The graduates join a network of more than 10,000 Coady graduates in more than 146 countries globally.

A British online magazine and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama have recognized a 2015 Coady Institute graduate Maria Omare as one of Red magazine’s The Next 25: 25 visionaries to watch. Maria is founder of The Action Foundation. The foundation helps build inclusive and resilient communities for children, women, and girls with disabilities in Kenya.
Pathy Fellow Developing Tools to Support Muslim Human Trafficking Survivors
For her Pathy Foundation Fellowship initiative, Laila is working alongside Sakeenah Homes – an organization that provides culturally-sensitive supports for Muslim women and children – to develop a rehabilitation program for Muslim women survivors of human trafficking.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – 2023
September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. The federal holiday is just one of the 94 calls to action by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada in 2015. We use our collective voice to call on all parties to continue to implement these calls to action as we navigate this journey of reconciliation together.
We also recognize our own duties to learn and unlearn, to decolonize our work, and to contribute in meaningful ways toward reconciliation.

October 14 | Join us for the annual Coffee with Coady event during St. Francis Xavier University Homecoming.
We will be joined by 2023 Katherine Fleming International Development Award recipient, Prossy Nantongo who will share about her work helping vulnerable and orphaned girls and women in Uganda and Rwanda as they transition from school to employment.
Eileen Alma named Coady Institute Executive Director
A familiar face with more than 30 years of experience in the development sector has been selected as the new Executive Director of Coady Institute. Eileen Alma was appointed to the position for a five-year term beginning immediately.
Carleton University joins Pathy Foundation Fellowship Partnership
The Pathy Foundation Fellowship has been working in tandem with five Canadian partner universities to offer the yearlong Fellowship program for the past nine years.
Now, they are welcoming Carleton University, located in Ottawa, Ontario, as a sixth partner.

I want to be a member who will support other people, and at the same time, let the community bring the change to their own situations – because that will give them not only more power over the initiative, but they’ll be accountable to what happens, and they might be more willing to sustain the initiative if it belongs to them.”
