Description

On February 28, 2006, members of the Iroquois Confederacy blockaded a highway near Caledonia, Ontario.  This was to prevent a housing development on land within their traditional territories. Their actions are led and supported by the Haudenosaunee clan mothers. They rallied their community, demanded recognition and lead a cultural reawakening in the traditionally matriarchal society.
