One of a series of three videos were made in 1978 -- sixteen years after Tanzania became an independent country. They are actual footage of the people engaged in building Ujamaa villages and relationships in the country. The action takes place at the village water spring. The women are doing their laundry. Some men have begun a discussion with the film-maker about the way food is given to children, by the village. The bachelors complain that they have to feed other people's children while they themselves don't have enough money to pay the bride price necessary to get married. The women present are asked to comment on the question of bride price. There follows a lively exchange on the topic.
