This paper examines citizen mobilisation and activism in relation to asbestos disease and litigation. It draws upon the litigation of Cape plc, a British company mining asbestos in South Africa, who was forced to pay compensation to former employees with asbestos-related diseases. The paper focuses on the two towns of Prieska and Griquatown, South Africa.
