Description

This film follows four women who have taken refuge in the Kukuo witches' camp in Northern Ghana. It examines how a woman becomes stigmatized as a "witch". Witches are usually older women who are no longer of value for bearing children or performing heavy fieldwork. They are falsely accused of acts to which traditional folklore attributes supernatural causes and are often stoned, beaten, or subjected to demeaning rituals.
